Insolation

Storyboard

The solar radiation that reaches the Earth's atmosphere has a spectrum centered on the visible wavelength. As light penetrates the atmosphere, it interacts with water molecules and other gases, losing some of its intensity in the process. This phenomenon can be effectively modeled using an attenuation factor, which is multiplied by the intensity and depends on this interaction.
